Job Title: Commercial Counsel

STAAR Surgical is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Counsel to join our legal team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our day-to-day commercial contracting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commercial Contracting: Draft and negotiate contracts, advising clients on a broad range of legal and contractual matters to support STAAR's business.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact closely with business clients and third parties to understand business requirements and policies.
  • Systems and Processes: Support efforts to implement contract management procedures, tools, and tracking.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Serve as legal reviewer alongside medical and regulatory affairs team members in the review of marketing, advertising, and promotional materials.
  • Advice and Counsel: Provide clear and practical legal advice and risk guidance to commercial business partners and key stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) and admission to practice in California (in good standing); or admitted to practice in another state and registered with the State Bar of California.
  • Experience: At least 5+ years' experience as an attorney, including law firm experience and in-house experience; medical technology company experience preferred.
  • Skills: General knowledge of medical technology industry, including applicable legal, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
