Role Summary:

We are in search of a Senior Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer possessing 8 years of relevant experience to become part of our Resilience Water Team.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an I&C Systems Engineer with expertise in design, integration, testing, and consulting engineering. The successful candidate will engage in projects that encompass a range of SCADA and I&C automation and technology requirements. Responsibilities will include delivering SCADA/I&C design services and providing technical and system integration support for a diverse clientele involved in environmental remediation, as well as industrial and municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position offers the chance to work directly on client sites, gaining firsthand access to automation systems.

This role is situated within our global Resilience business area, where we focus on safeguarding our natural environment and water resources while ensuring sustainable power for future generations. Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer, you will deliver technical and design consulting services aimed at executing projects that involve I&C testing, performance assessments, and the creation of design and construction documentation for water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Developing technical and design specifications, including process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA block diagrams, control narratives, control schematics, panel layouts, instrument selection and sizing, and interconnection diagrams.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and designers.
  • Preparing budgets, planning, cost estimates, and overseeing the design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation control projects.
  • Providing I&C design to facilitate process control and plant automation.
  • Conducting factory and site acceptance testing, field checkouts, and system startups.
  • Identifying critical issues in process/mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Utilizing technical expertise to successfully execute SCADA projects from inception to completion.
  • Implementing and directing testing and troubleshooting of process control systems.
  • Reviewing control logic in PLCs/OITs across various platforms.
  • Assessing graphical HMIs, data archiving, and reporting solutions across multiple platforms.
  • Producing clear and accurate written documentation, reports, and technical memoranda.
  • Some travel may be necessary for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, and oversight of construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control consulting or integration.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license, or the ability to obtain a PE license within two years of hire.

Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting project deadlines.
  • Capability to execute projects and guide others effectively.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with PLC/DCS programming.
  • Experience in HMI programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC controls and SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of radio and cellular telemetry networks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of IT and industrial networking.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in HMI/PLC platform configuration.
  • Background in the water/wastewater sector is advantageous.
  • Experience with IT and industrial networks.
  • Proficiency in PLC/HMI/DCS configuration, programming, and startup.
