Job Summary

Hendersonville Pediatrics is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Assist physicians in the care of patients to ensure optimal medical care.
    • Manage patient flow to ensure timely appointments and efficient use of physician time.
    • Take patient histories, including chief complaints, family histories, medication allergies, and vital signs.
    • Prepare electronic health records for physicians prior to exams.
    • Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
    • Administer immunizations and injections as directed.
    • Provide immunization records and vaccine information sheets to patients.
    • Maintain a clean and organized treatment area.
    • Respond to emergency situations confidently and professionally.
  • Laboratory:
    • Perform basic laboratory procedures and maintain the laboratory.
    • Collect and process blood and other specimens.
    • Label and record test results accurately.
    • Keep the laboratory stocked, organized, and clean.
    • Maintain compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Marginal Functions:
    • Attend staff meetings and in-services.
    • Stay up-to-date on new procedures and protocols.
    • Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Organize drug closets and clean surgical equipment.
    • Comply with OSHA standards.
Requirements
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Pass a background check.
  • CNA licensed, Certified Medical Assistant, or minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CNA licensed, Certified Medical Assistant, or minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Current license in NC or certification with NC.
  • Knowledge of manual vital signs.
Working Conditions

Works in a fast-paced, well-lit, comfort-controlled medical office. High traffic area. Work may be stressful. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Occasional irregular hours. Frequent exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and moving equipment, hand-eye coordination. Involves substantial standing and walking. Possess the ability to respond to telephone/paging contacts.

  • Ability and knowledge to perform medical assistant care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Skill in taking vital signs.

  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees, and the public.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Always presents a professional image.
  • Ability to do detailed and accurate work.
  • Utilizes time management skills.
  • Answers telephone in a professional manner.
  • Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors.
