Job Summary:

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a qualified Childcare Lead Teacher to lead our Early Learning programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing daily lesson plans for infant, toddler, and preschool programs. This is a full-time position requiring flexible scheduling between 6 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead daily lesson plans for infant, toddler, and preschool programs
  • Organize and participate in games and activities for children
  • Provide weekly lesson plans to parents and maintain records of attendance and arrival and departure times
  • Maintain supervision of children and ensure their safety and well-being
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences at least annually and maintain open communication with parents
  • Prepare materials for daily activities and maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom
  • Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior
  • Handle parent concerns and provide support and guidance to parents

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Infant/Toddler CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college level Early Childhood Education program required
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) preferred; six months to one year childcare related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with infants, toddlers, preschool and school age children
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications
  • YMCA experience preferred
