Before and After School Program Lead Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a skilled and dedicated Before and After School Program Lead Teacher to provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to thrive. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing daily lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of each child.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and lead daily lesson plans that promote learning and development in a fun and engaging manner
- Organize and participate in games and activities that foster social skills, teamwork, and creativity
- Provide weekly lesson plans to parents, ensuring they are informed about their child's activities and progress
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival and departure times, and any notable incidents
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss progress and address any concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are available
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's degree in a youth development-related field or equivalent experience
- At least six months to one year of experience working with school-age children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and priorities

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days
- First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
- AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
