Job Description

This position is for our GSRP Preschool classroom at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. The ideal candidate will be available to work Monday-Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Job Summary:

The Great Start Readiness Program Associate Teacher will assist in planning, developing, and implementing preschool classroom activities. This position requires face-to-face leadership and may involve early morning responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
  • Engage with children in the classroom and maintain supervision.
  • Assist with daily parent communication and prepare materials for daily activities.
  • Maintain records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the classroom teaching team.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA preferred.
  • Six months to one year of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Ability and desire to work with infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications.

Certifications:

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
  • Fingerprinting.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. skin test.
  • Documentation of physical exam.
