Job Overview

REPORTS TO: Electric Supervisor/On-Site Foreman/Shipyard Superintendent

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute electrical tasks safely and efficiently to support the construction of cruise vessels. Demonstrate a strong work ethic with an emphasis on productivity.

KEY FUNCTIONS & TASKS:

  • Utilizes measuring instruments and hand tools to measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit.
  • Employs hand and power tools to drill holes and maneuver wiring through openings.
  • Engages in labor tasks associated with the installation, upkeep, and repair of diverse electrical systems and apparatus.
  • Handles work related to environmental control systems, pumps, and industrial lighting setups.
  • Ensures proper grounding of electrical systems.
  • Strips insulation from wire ends and connects wires for future soldering.
  • Threads conduit ends, connects couplings, and fabricates and secures conduit support brackets using hand tools.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in residential settings and/or licensed journeymen with industrial exposure (3-4 years of experience).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and templates.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, and NEMA ratings.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of all tools and equipment.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires various physical movements to effectively carry out essential functions.
  • Ability to utilize both upper and lower body extremities.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders up to 24' at heights up to 70', and through confined spaces.
  • Able to work over bodies of water.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal visual acuity and hearing levels are necessary. Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions. Hand-eye coordination is essential.

HAZARDS: Exposure to weather, fumes, elevated noise levels, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Summer hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
