About the Role:
The Fraud Prevention Specialist plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating potential fraudulent activities. Key responsibilities include:
  • Proactively detecting suspicious transactions and taking necessary actions to prevent them.
  • Engaging with customers to verify the authenticity of transactions.
  • Analyzing fraud patterns, emerging schemes, and industry developments to recommend effective fraud prevention strategies.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of departmental procedures.
  • Collaborating with various business units, including Bank Protection and Investigations, to monitor and prevent fraud.
  • Monitoring customer accounts and transactions to identify and reduce fraudulent activities.
  • Conducting outreach to customers and bank associates to confirm the legitimacy of high-risk transactions.
  • Reviewing system reports for high-risk accounts and potential internal fraud.
  • Compiling ad-hoc reports and fulfilling analysis requests for management.
  • Participating in the implementation of new fraud prevention technologies and processes.
  • Assisting in the planning and maintenance of complex analyses.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant banking regulations.
  • Adhering to all bank policies and procedures and completing required training.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the bank's policies regarding applicable regulations.
  • May involve coaching or mentoring others.
  • Actively engaging in learning and promoting the Umpqua corporate culture.
  • Demonstrating initiative and serving as a positive role model.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

About You:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in audit, financial analysis, or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of experience focused on compliance, analysis, and fraud prevention, preferably in the banking sector.
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention concepts and common schemes.
  • Proficiency in bank computer systems, Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools.
  • A commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to train and present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Progress towards, or willingness to obtain, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

Workstyle:
This position requires full onsite presence.

We offer a competitive total rewards package, including base salary and comprehensive benefits. The salary range for this role is $53,000.00 to $80,000.00, with the final pay rate determined by various non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

Eligible associates enjoy comprehensive healthcare coverage, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, employee assistance programs, life insurance, disability insurance, tuition assistance, and more. Benefit eligibility begins on the first day of the month following the date of hire for associates regularly scheduled to work at least thirty hours per week.
