Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team at Marion County Adult Behavioral Health. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing recovery-oriented supports to individuals with serious mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support, encouragement, and assistance to individuals in care, promoting activities that foster recovery and empowerment.
  • Share personal experiences and model self-help and wellness activities to support individuals in achieving their recovery goals.
  • Act as an advocate, facilitating and connecting individuals to services and activities that promote community stability and independence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical records in accordance with Federal, State, County, and treatment program requirements.
Requirements
  • A self-identified person with a history of mental health services, preferably in recovery from an addiction disorder.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
  • Must successfully complete a Mental Health approved peer support training program within six (6) months of hire.
Working Conditions

This is a safety-sensitive/special needs position. Final candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana.
