Position Overview
AECOM is seeking a Bridge Design Project Engineer III to work in our Los Angeles office. This pivotal role will focus on the design analysis of transportation structures, specifically in the realm of bridge engineering across California and the Western U.S.
As part of our esteemed bridge group, you will engage in a variety of projects that present unique challenges and opportunities for professional growth. Your contributions will be essential in shaping the infrastructure landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop structural designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation structures, including bridges and retaining walls.
- Conduct load rating analyses and evaluate rehabilitation concepts.
- Utilize advanced engineering design software for project execution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure project success.
- Assist in specific tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collect and analyze engineering data following established procedures.
- Engage in detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
- Propose innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
- Identify and address discrepancies in project outcomes.
- Mentor junior engineers to foster their development.
- Ensure project work aligns with budgetary and scheduling expectations under moderate supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in bridge design and project delivery within California or the West Coast.
- Master's degree in structural engineering.
- Familiarity with Caltrans and AASHTO bridge design standards and codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
- Proficient in structural problem analysis and design software.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and applicable codes, such as IBC/CBC and AREMA.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
