Position Overview:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Manager to lead and oversee project assignments, while setting priorities and objectives for junior team members.
This role involves continuous engagement in advanced planning and design tasks, with a focus on both preliminary and final designs related to pavements, foundations, and geotechnical projects associated with large-scale military initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage complex projects including highway and railroad bridges, airfield pavements, utilities, and various military facilities.
- Act as the Unit Leader for a team of three to five engineers, serving as the primary contact for daily operations.
- Organize and prioritize ongoing production, adapting work processes to optimize resource allocation and enhance productivity.
- Assess the technical soundness of data, criteria, and conclusions provided by team members, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Conduct field assessments to evaluate topographical and environmental conditions relevant to specific projects.
- Collaborate with external agencies to discuss design concepts for existing federal structures and explore innovative solutions for construction challenges.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: A minimum of one year of specialized experience in civil engineering principles related to the design and layout of pavements, foundations, and geotechnical work.
- Licensure: Possession of a current Professional Engineer registration is required.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering sciences and their practical applications. Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
Additional Information:
This position may require participation in a trial or probationary period. Direct deposit of pay is mandatory. The role is part of the Engineers and Scientists Career Program.
