Assistant Director of Strategic Programs and Education

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of Strategic Programs and Education at the National Women's History Museum. In this pivotal role, you will lead and oversee a range of innovative educational programs and strategic initiatives, including the development of exhibitions, designed to engage diverse audiences both virtually and in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Program Oversight: Provide day-to-day project management and strategic oversight of strategic programs and educational initiatives across all audiences.
  • Program and Resource Development: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design, develop, and implement innovative educational programs, including workshops, lectures, tours, professional development opportunities, and educational resource materials.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Cultivate relationships with schools, community organizations, and educational institutions to promote Museum programs and facilitate partnerships.
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Develop evaluation metrics and tools to assess the impact and effectiveness of educational programs and use data to inform programmatic improvements.
  • Budget Management: Manage program budgets, including grant funding, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Staff Supervision: Provide supervision, guidance, and/or project management to education program staff, interns, contractors, and fellows.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: Represent the museum at conferences, symposiums, and other events to advocate for the importance of women's history education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, history, or a related field. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in educational program development, preferably in a museum or cultural institution.
  • Strong knowledge of, or interest in, women's history and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
  • Experience designing and delivering educational resources and programs for diverse audiences, including K-12 students and educators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management, budgeting, research, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with education standards, curriculum frameworks, and best practices in informal learning environments.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing contractors.
