Educational Support Specialist

Salary: $12.80 per hour
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in executing a developmentally suitable program for eligible children, adhering to curriculum and funding guidelines in collaboration with management.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery within the program.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all customer and family information obtained during service delivery.
Key Duties:
- Record attendance of children during meal times.
- Support the serving and supervision of meals for children when necessary.
- Aid in the transportation of children to and from designated locations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child in care.
- Foster a collaborative approach in program coordination with site staff, management, Policy Council, and local school personnel.
- Engage young children in purposeful learning throughout the day.
- Step in as an associate teacher when required.
- Encourage family involvement in the program, including setting goals for children and families.
- Help create and sustain a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Act as an effective team member and promote positive concepts within the classroom.
- Assist in the collection and distribution of in-kind resources.
- Complete necessary program documentation and record-keeping accurately and promptly. Collaborate effectively with the Teaching Team, Regional Coordinator, and Component Coordinators to meet program and departmental goals.
- Engage with families and promote agency programs within the community.
- Participate in professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, and training sessions as approved by supervisors.
- Attend community events and meetings to support agency programs, including evening and weekend commitments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have experience working with young children.
- Obtain a Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire or during the first available session thereafter.
- Complete 16 hours of annual training, including CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively.
Additional Requirements:
- Complete any additional certifications as required.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times.
- Provide a physician's report confirming physical capability and freedom from communicable tuberculosis.
- Exhibit strong communication and organizational skills, and work effectively with diverse individuals.
- Be self-motivated and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
- Prioritize and complete tasks to achieve desired outcomes within set time frames.
- Embrace new challenges and opportunities.
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Recognize the significance of consistent attendance and its impact on colleagues, clients, and the agency.
- Be able to lift and carry a child weighing up to 45 pounds in emergency situations.
- Capable of bending, squatting, and sitting on the floor.
- Physically able to perform CPR (with appropriate training).
- Must be able to work at the same level as preschool children.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation.
- Possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and successfully pass a motor vehicle record review.
- Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history and Central Registry clearance, at the time of hire and when requested during employment.
- Comply with the agency's smoke-free and drug-free policies.
