The University of Idaho is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Children's Center, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, implementing, and evaluating activities and routines for a developmentally appropriate program.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development: Collaborate with our team to develop and implement curriculum that honors the individual strengths, needs, and interests of our classroom community.
- Classroom Management: Ensure a safe and sanitary environment that promotes growth and development in our children.
- Staff Supervision: Train, supervise, and evaluate Children's Center staff to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care and education.
- Parent Partnerships: Develop and maintain partnerships with parents to provide sensitive and responsive care for all daily routines.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in early childhood education and development.
- Education: Willing to complete or begin the process towards a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development-Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education.
- Experience: Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum or activities, communicating and engaging with children, following written instructions, and applying methods used to teach infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children.
- Certifications: Hold CPR and First Aid certifications, or be able to obtain within 1 month of hire.
- Background Check: Must pass a State of Idaho Health and Welfare background check.
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development: Experience with, or knowledge of, typical and atypical development of children from six weeks to preschool age.
- NAEYC Philosophy and Standards: Knowledge of NAEYC philosophy and standards.
- Professional Development: Active participant in Idaho Stars Professional Development System (PDS).
- Physical Ability: Physical ability to work around small children.
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move 50 pounds.
- Standing and Sitting: Ability to stand, sit, run, and climb stairs.
