Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of the College Laker Cafe, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Cash Handling: Manage cash registers, maintain cash drawers, and prepare daily deposits for the College Accounting Department.
  • Inventory Management: Order and maintain inventory of food and supplies, and track inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and serve food and beverages to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring high-quality products and excellent customer service.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons, addressing and resolving any issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Team Management: Supervise and train student workers, ensuring that they are equipped to provide excellent customer service and support the cafe's operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all cafe operations are in compliance with college policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; ServSafe certification with the State of Michigan must be obtained.
  • Experience: Six months to one year of experience in a hospitality-related field preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills; good communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working Environment

The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an educational environment, requiring a professional image and demeanor. The environment has minimal discomfort due to heat, cold, or dust, with occasional moderate noise levels. Travel to other campus locations may be required, and duties are performed in an independent atmosphere with intermittent periods of frequent physical exertion.
