Job Summary

The Manufacturing/Project Engineer is a key member of the engineering team at Novipax, responsible for executing complex projects from cradle-to-grave while supporting the company's strategic objectives. This role involves collaborating with Operations and technical experts to solve internal customers' most challenging projects, driving value-stream enhancements, and developing unique solutions that improve processes and capabilities across the entire company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to all corporate and plant safety policies and procedures, as well as manage compliance with standards and specifications for quality control and assurance.
  • Capital Project Management: Identify and develop capital projects required to drive higher efficiency and address plant capacity needs, manage the execution of capital projects, and deliver on time and on budget.
  • Process Control and Improvement: Utilize and implement process control methodology to solve problems and improve process control and capability issues, develop and implement corrective action plans and systems, and coordinate with site personnel.
  • Industry Trends and Knowledge: Direct efforts in gaining and maintaining knowledge of ongoing trends in the industry that lead to improvements in product quality, product consistency, product efficiency, or initiatives for cost reductions.
  • Process Specifications and Continuous Improvement: Work closely with all plant locations to define process specifications, including machinery set-ups, operating conditions, set points, tolerances, processing procedures, and packaging specifications, based on a strong understanding of customer requirements.
  • Cost Reduction and Capacity Improvement: Work closely with the Continuous Improvement team to focus on Cost Reduction, Scrap Reduction, Capacity Improvement, and other initiatives.
  • Capital Expenditure Requests: Assist in preparation of major capital expenditure requests to improve existing operations, increase efficiencies, improve product quality, or commercialize new technologies, and serve as a resource on plant technologies, control systems, and raw materials.
  • Investment Project Implementation: Support the effective implementation of investment projects approved for capacity or facility expansion and upgrades, and ensure plans are in place to meet all performance indicator targets/goals.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments such as sales/marketing, engineering, and customers to understand and meet their needs, conduct regular meetings with all parties to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with similar processes, minimum 5-7 years in Process, Maintenance, or Operations roles in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Program/Project Management Experience: Program/Project management experience preferred, must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
  • Technical Skills: Controls (PLC) programming experience a strong plus, self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of automated packaging equipment, Lean and Preventative Maintenance systems preferred, strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and team mentoring/building.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate strategy into executable tactical plans.
  • Problem-Solving and Time Management: Ability to systematically work through problems, can work with deadlines individually or as part of a team.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Power Point, and Excel are required.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel as required, estimated at fifty (50%) percent of the time.
