Position Overview: The Senior Facilities Planner plays a crucial role in the development and management of library facilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with administrative and operational teams to understand the functional requirements and spatial needs for library facilities.
  • Conducting assessments and providing recommendations for new library sites and the adaptation of existing spaces.
  • Overseeing the preparation of proposals for capital projects and alterations, ensuring alignment with library goals.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders, including government officials and contractors, to advocate for the library's interests in construction and renovation projects.
  • Evaluating space requirements based on operational needs and forecasting future expansion or modification plans.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to ensure compliance with library standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring construction projects to ensure they meet the library's needs and budget constraints.
  • Preparing technical documentation for equipment procurement and managing the installation process.
  • Supervising maintenance and operational services related to library facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Facilities Planner I, focusing on significant capital projects.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution and four years of experience in architectural planning or project management.
  • Experience in a responsible role analyzing and recommending solutions for major building projects.

License: A valid California Class C Driver License or an alternative transportation method for job-related functions.

Physical Expectations: Light physical effort, including occasional lifting and considerable walking.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience leading major library projects, public speaking, and supervising staff in a planning capacity.

Assessment Process: Candidates will be evaluated based on their experience in project management and knowledge of relevant regulations.

Eligibility Information: Candidates who pass the examination will be placed on an eligible register for potential vacancies.
