Key Responsibilities
  • Security Monitoring: Oversees and responds to security alerts; analyzes access patterns, manages user permissions, and operates remote locking mechanisms during both routine and urgent situations; assesses the need for law enforcement intervention; maintains detailed records of security communications and activities; prepares comprehensive reports; manages the issuance and retrieval of security keys and identification badges; and ensures accountability for issued police officer badges and associated documentation.
  • Communication Management: Handles routine and emergency communications from various sources requiring police, fire, medical, or other emergency services; maintains connections with law enforcement; oversees responses to security and safety communications, including radio dispatches and emergency calls; collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement for effective emergency coordination; and operates various communication devices and computer systems to facilitate both routine and emergency operations.
  • Operational Support: Conducts system checks on equipment utilized in the dispatch center; troubleshoots and resolves technical issues as they arise; performs equipment inventories and maintains logs; inputs, updates, and retrieves data from multiple computer systems/databases; utilizes state and national law enforcement databases to access sensitive information; compiles reports related to police control center operations; and manages vehicle registration processes, including issuing permits.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time, rotating shifts, including nights and weekends. Schedule details will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Minimum qualifications include one of the following:

GS-05 grade level:

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current Federal employees must have held a GS grade within the past 52 weeks to meet time-in-grade requirements. For GS-05, one year of service at GS-04 is required.
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service, including knowledge of security objectives and programs, monitoring alarm systems, dispatching officers, and maintaining logs.
  • Education: Completion of four years of education above high school in an accredited institution.
  • Combination: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience includes both paid and unpaid roles, including volunteer work.
