Role Overview: The Staff Avionics Test Software Engineer will engage in all aspects of testing avionics flight hardware for E-Space satellites. You will collaborate with engineers across various disciplines to create an automated testing framework for satellite avionics and systems. This includes developing test methodologies, custom embedded software, and PC-based testing solutions, while supporting rigorous flight-like evaluations of satellite hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design avionics testing architecture for satellites and specific PCBAs.
  • Develop embedded firmware for custom avionics test PCBAs using C/C++.
  • Create PC-based automated test control software and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) in Python.
  • Implement database-related code for effective storage and processing of test data.
  • Conduct verification testing of custom test software and hardware designs.
  • Formulate test procedures in collaboration with other engineering teams.
  • Support automated testing of satellite electronics at both unit and system levels, including anomaly resolution.
  • Collaborate with flight hardware designers on design-for-test strategies.
  • Contribute to the establishment of engineering and production best practices to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded C/C++ and Python development and testing.
  • Proficiency in electronics hardware, including the ability to interpret schematics and PCB layouts, and perform basic hardware testing with lab equipment.
  • Ability to create basic harnesses for engineering purposes.
  • Strong documentation skills for software architecture designs, test procedures, results, and analysis.
  • Proven success in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with satellite ground data systems.
  • Capability to design PCBAs, including schematics and PCB layout.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer.
  • Skills in FPGA design using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with mechanical design in Solidworks.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The target base pay for this role ranges from $150,000 to $210,000 annually, with total compensation determined by various factors including relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
