Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Coordinate care activities, provide information, and secure assistance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely processing of physician orders within scope of practice.
  • Efficiently process patient admission, transfer, and discharge in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Provide clerical support to the unit and hospital, including maintaining unit information sources.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve systems and processes that support patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary Certificate or two-year degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in a Health Unit Coordinator or Medical Secretary position preferred.
  • Strong communication and telephone skills, with ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer and clerical skills, with ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
