Job Summary
The role involves the installation and removal of molds and fixtures for molding machinery, ensuring the upkeep of molds and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adheres to established protocols for mold removal from machines, which includes: disconnecting water and hydraulic lines, detaching nozzles and heater blocks, unclamping and unfastening molds, and hoisting molds from the machinery.
- Follows set procedures for mold installation into machines, including: connecting water and hydraulic lines, installing nozzles and heater blocks, and securing molds.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance on molding nozzles.
- Wires heater bands together as required.
- Installs and/or removes inserts for molds as per schedule.
- Prepares molds for both removal from and installation into machines.
- Safely transports molds within the facility using cranes and forklifts.
- Ensures cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of mold components and tools.
- Forklift certification is required.
- Crane certification is necessary.
- Authorized lockout/tag out certification is essential.
- Training in the use of hand and power tools, including torches and various hand tools, is required.
- Prior experience in changing molds in plastic machinery is advantageous.
- Experience with torches is preferred.
- Familiarity with bench grinders is beneficial.
- Physical activities include walking, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers for various tasks.
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Work is primarily indoors, with frequent exposure to hot equipment.
