Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Specialist to join our team at the State of Minnesota. As a key member of our HR department, you will provide technical personnel support to our staff and department managers, ensuring that HR functions are accurately and professionally completed within state and federal regulations, state policy, and administrative procedure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process personnel transactions in our personnel/payroll system (SEMA4).
  • Provide personnel and administrative support to our HR staff.
  • Perform general administrative activities.
  • Provide support and assistance to staff and customers on personnel issues.
  • Advise managers, supervisors, and employees on various HR inquiries.
  • Upload personnel documents into our Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
  • Assist with labor negotiations and provide data and information related to workgroup, job allocation, and selection issues.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience performing clerical or technical duties in a human resources office or processing payroll.
  • One (1) year of technical experience in human resources that includes the entry of HR transactions in a HR information system.
  • Experience must include entry of HR transactions in a PeopleSoft or similar HR information system and knowledge of Human Resources processes and all applicable state and federal employment laws, rules, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Thorough understanding of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to consistently produce accurate, quality documents and data.
Additional Requirements
  • The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) will conduct criminal background checks on all finalists for this position.
  • Employee reference checks will be conducted on all finalists.
