Position Overview

The Laboratory Quality Assurance Technician plays a crucial role in the assessment and validation of raw and bulk material samples. This position involves executing laboratory tests, monitoring product stability, and generating comprehensive reports. Additionally, the technician will engage in routine laboratory operations and support various quality control initiatives.

Reporting Structure:

This role is under the supervision of the Quality Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate testing protocols for raw and bulk materials.
  • Collect relevant product information as needed.
  • Prepare samples and conduct tests in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Extract samples at designated testing intervals.
  • Perform physical and sensory evaluations of samples.
  • Organize samples for external laboratory analysis and compile results at scheduled intervals.
  • Identify out-of-specification (OOS) or out-of-trend (OOT) results and communicate findings to Research & Development and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Draft reports and maintain accurate laboratory records.
  • Oversee the upkeep and calibration of laboratory equipment and storage units.

Qualifications:

A minimum of an Associate of Science degree coupled with 1-2 years of experience in physical and sensory testing of personal care products is essential. Alternative combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in laboratory mathematics.
  • Competent in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and apply fundamental laboratory techniques in a professional setting.

Work Environment:
A combination of laboratory and office settings.

Physical Requirements:
While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to navigate between operational areas, laboratories, and office spaces. The role necessitates prolonged periods of standing and sitting, as well as the occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 35 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for effective communication.
