About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Liaison to join our team at the Helen Ross McNabb Center. As a key member of our school-based mental health program, you will play a vital role in providing direct mental health services to students in Loudon and Union County schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual consultation to teachers to enhance the learning environment for students at risk of developing emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse problems.
  • Develop and implement training and education programs for teachers, school staff, and students to promote healthy learning environments.
  • Work closely with families to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide direct services to identified students.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and evaluations, as well as provide advocacy, linkage, and referral services as needed.
  • Participate in IEP and other school-related meetings, and provide parent, school, or school staff training.
  • Interface professionally with school personnel and other agencies to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a human services field, such as counseling or social work.
  • Two years of experience working with children with emotional or behavioral problems, or two years of experience with adolescent substance use/abuse prevention, or a combination of the two.
  • Experience leading groups and trainings, as well as coursework in cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, suicide, and learning disorders.
  • Licensed or licensed eligible.
  • Ability to effectively and ethically counsel children and families, as well as present professionally and work within a team format to plan, implement, and evaluate successful interventions.
