Key Responsibilities- Perform nuclear medicine procedures by preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and other tracer studies.
- Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceutical received, used, and disposed of, using computer systems and following physician prescriptions.
- Detect and map radiopharmaceutical in patients' bodies using cameras to produce photographic or computer images for physician interpretation.
- Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
- Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceutical, adhering to radiation safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare radiopharmaceutical, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
- Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide assistance during test procedures.
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification is required.
