Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures by preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and other tracer studies using various radioisotopes and equipment.
  • Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceutical received, used, and disposed of, using computer systems and following physician prescriptions.
  • Detect and map radiopharmaceutical in patients' bodies using cameras to produce photographic or computer images for physician interpretation.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment, maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment, and dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceutical following radiation safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceutical, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
  • Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.

Credentials and Education:

  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Required)
