Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist in the Vancouver area to deliver essential crisis outreach services across the region. This position is pivotal in performing involuntary treatment assessments for individuals experiencing a behavioral health emergency, working in close partnership with local healthcare facilities, law enforcement agencies, and mobile crisis response teams. Candidates must hold qualifications as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) in the state of Washington.

The services rendered are grounded in the recovery-oriented approach, emphasizing each individual's capacity for personal growth and recovery. The role entails initiating involuntary holds and commitments when there is a significant risk of self-harm or harm to others, conducting thorough clinical assessments, and determining the necessity for psychiatric hospitalization or referral to additional services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform involuntary treatment assessments
  • Collaborate with healthcare institutions, law enforcement, and crisis intervention teams
  • Evaluate individuals' risk of harm and the necessity for immediate intervention
  • Prepare and manage legal documentation and serve necessary subpoenas
  • Provide testimony during court proceedings
  • Oversee the processing of individuals who are involuntarily committed

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social or behavioral sciences or nursing
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience
  • At least three years of experience as a Crisis Intervention Specialist
  • Current credential from the Washington State Department of Health
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Annual clinical competency evaluation
  • Annual influenza vaccination is mandatory
