Key Responsibilities:The Child Care Assistant is responsible for planning and implementing engaging early childhood education activities that foster the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth of children. This role involves collaboration with the program director and educators to create and execute age-appropriate curricula and activities.
Specific duties include:
- Creating a nurturing environment that encourages positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
- Leading and facilitating planned activities for participants.
- Utilizing approved child guidance techniques to interact effectively with children and youth.
- Maintaining professional relationships with staff, parents, and community members.
- Assisting in the collection of program participation data and completing necessary reports.
The assistant will help prepare and organize both indoor and outdoor activity spaces, ensuring they are conducive to daily schedules. Responsibilities also include monitoring children in various settings, maintaining their safety, and ensuring their well-being at all times.
Caregiving Duties:Routine caregiving tasks will involve:
- Providing assistance with materials and activities.
- Welcoming children and attending to their physical needs.
- Conducting health checks and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Preparing and serving appropriate snacks and meals when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- One year of experience working with children in a group setting.
- Ability to lift and carry 45+ pounds and perform physical activities such as walking, bending, and standing regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of post-secondary education, including twelve semester hours in relevant fields such as early childhood education or child development.
- One-year vocational certificate in childcare.
