Job Title: Senior Hardware Components Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware Components Engineer to join our team at Collins Aerospace, an RTX company. As a key member of our Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and producing DoD and Government Communications Systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Work as a team member with a concentration in the mechanical and electrical design of circuit cards and required housings for communications systems.
  • Ensure that all aspects of Parts Control and Standardization Plans are implemented and executed.
  • Review datasheets and compare technical characteristics of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and provide recommendations for potential alternate part replacements.
  • Generate piece part documentation of various forms for procurement purposes, submit required program reports, and develop and implement a Parts Control Plan.
  • Provide Parts Obsolescence support, including leading investigations on obsolescence issues, participating in trade studies, determining the best mitigation approaches, and implementing risk mitigation approaches.
  • Drive the technical obsolescence mitigation process for a program, keeping detailed action logs updated with rationale for the technical approach and directing or overseeing tasks of some team members.
Requirements:
  • Background in components engineering, including guiding component selection.
  • Broad-based Mechanical/Electrical Hardware engineering background.
  • Travel up to 5% required.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Tin Whisker Risk, Gold Embrittlement Risk, and experience with Tin Whisker/Gold Embrittlement Mitigation Plans for military applications.
  • Experience analyzing alerts from and determining technical impact to programs.
  • Working knowledge of Windchill Product Data Manager.
  • Working knowledge of use of Valor, Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Allegro, ADS.
  • Working knowledge of Raytheon EDM Parts Library Tools.
