Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Protected Communications Systems department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing hardware components for our communication systems.

Your primary focus will be on performing mechanical design, development, analysis, and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements. You will also provide support to production and suppliers during product integration and interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical design, development, analysis, and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements
  • Provide support to production and suppliers during product integration
  • Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
  • Support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
Requirements
  • Previous experience designing and developing hardware, ranging from concept definition through detailed design and transition to production or product support
  • Demonstrated background in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools
  • Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, circuit card assemblies, structural components, equipment packaging and layout, and military defense systems
  • CREO CAD system experience and PDM or similar product data management tools
  • Previous experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using ANSYS, Flotherm, and/or other analytical tools
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ASME Y14.5
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
