The Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next dean. This esteemed position offers a profound opportunity to shape the future of journalism and journalism education, empowering the next generation of journalists to lead with integrity and creativity.

As dean, you will have a critical role in adapting journalism education to a rapidly changing media landscape. You will lead the school in fulfilling its mission of advancing journalism education and practice, focusing on building a more inclusive community of faculty, staff, students, and enhancing collaboration and shared purpose within the school and across the broader campus.

You will be responsible for managing resources thoughtfully, working with campus partners, the school's Advisory Board, alumni, donors, and others to increase philanthropic support for the school's faculty, programs, and students.

The ideal candidate will possess a sophisticated understanding of journalism, insight into the opportunities, challenges, and demands the field will face in the future, and the ability to anticipate the implications of this landscape for the next generation of aspiring journalists.

A successful candidate will have prior academic experience or demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn the specific demands of journalism within an academic environment. The incoming dean must merit a tenured appointment as a full professor.

The salary range for this position is $199,700 - $509,900 per year. Additionally, UC Berkeley offers excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as moving, relocation, and housing assistance.
