Lead Financial Strategist for Art Museum Operations

Senior Manager of Budget and Finance Position at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive

The Senior Manager of Budget and Finance will play a critical role in the budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes, working closely with assigned departments and other constituents throughout the museum. This position requires a unique blend of strong analytical and technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal abilities to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Budget Planning and Management

  • Develop and execute multi-year and annual budget plans, creating accurate expenditure projections and managing complex financial arrangements.
  • Collaborate with the Director's office to develop annual budgets, delivering timely reports and requesting deficit waivers as needed.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare customized reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the Board, Senior Management, and departmental budget owners.
  • Provide comprehensive analyses for complex budgetary, financial, and resource projects, interacting with department directors to address issues and foster informed decision-making.

Division Finance Lead

  • Serve as the lead financial analyst for BAMPFA, overseeing financial org tree changes and maintaining the budget process.
  • Advocate for BAMPFA's financial needs on the campus level, collaborating with the campus to review the museum's financial status.

Financial Control and Compliance

  • Perform quarterly controls reporting consistent with campus compliance, approving C&G deficit clearing waiver request forms and correcting payroll in suspense.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality with sensitive information and financial data, ensuring adherence to internal control systems and regulatory requirements.

Supervision and Training

  • Supervise, train, and performance-manage finance staff, including developing financial transaction processes and procedures.
  • Cultivate an effective teamwork environment, providing guidance on financial activities and training BAMPFA staff as needed.

This is a full-time exempt career position, eligible for UC benefits. The budgeted salary range is $98,600 – $120,000 annually.
