Behavioral Health Counselor

Job Summary:
The Per Diem Behavioral Health Counselor will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in our care. This role requires a skilled professional to monitor and maintain a safe environment, provide therapeutic care, and develop supportive relationships with patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain patient safety in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
- Provide skilled therapeutic care, incorporating behavior management protocols to meet treatment goals and objectives.
- Support patients with routine activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
- Identify and report changes in behavior that represent unsafe situations.
- Develop and maintain supportive relationships with patients and families.
- Participate in patient care rounds and team meetings.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED, Associate's Degree preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at start date.
- De-escalation training (Crisis Prevention Institute or equivalent).
- Practical experience in a behavioral health or educational setting required.
- Internal: 1-2 years of experience as a Behavioral Health Tech at BCH.
- External: 1-2 years of experience as a Behavioral Health, Mental Health Counselor or similar role in a similar setting.
