Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician will provide one-on-one support to patients with behavioral health needs, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires close monitoring and observation of patient behaviors, with a focus on de-escalation techniques and crisis prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to patients with behavioral health needs
- Monitor and maintain patient safety, identifying potential risks and implementing safety measures as needed
- Collaborate with Registered Nurses to conduct environmental checks and identify risk factors
- Assist with the implementation of safety protocols, such as physical restraints and observation levels
- Respond to and de-escalate acute behavioral episodes in a therapeutic and supportive manner
- Under the direction of Registered Nurses, prevent elopement and call for support when necessary
- Identify patient behaviors that may lead to escalation and utilize de-escalation techniques
- Monitor patients and the environment, prioritizing safety concerns
- May perform vital signs and assist with Activities of Daily Living as directed by Registered Nurses
- Complete patient care documentation and administrative duties
- Under the direction of Registered Nurses, may assist practitioners with medical procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED, Associate's Degree preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) within three months of hire
- Wellness De-escalation training within six months of hire
- Six months of experience in a behavioral health or educational setting preferred
