Job Summary

Trotter Workforce is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment, including cranes, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems on heavy equipment, including cranes, to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including hydraulic and electrical systems, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Operate hand tools and equipment, including saws and plasma cutters, to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Initiate ordering of necessary parts and materials to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate records and compliance with company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and customers to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Assist in scheduling daily tasks and promoting future work to meet utilization requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Current Federal Medical Examination Card.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and primary functions of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of wiring stop/start systems and ability to use programmer.
  • Must have crane repair experience.
  • Knowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hoses.
  • Able to operate saw for cutting steel.
  • Able to operate plasma cutter.
  • Able to use oxygen/acetylene torch.
  • Ability to adjust pressures and reliefs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Mechanical design and/or practical experience in hydraulics, structural or mechanical layout.
  • High level of Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanical systems as related to the commercial truck industry.
  • Technical college degree desired, or structured on-the-job training program successfully completed.
  • 2 years' experience in field service of heavy equipment.
Health & Safety Requirements
  • Perform job functions in a safe manner.
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by Company policy for the job being performed.
  • Know and follow established job specific and facility wide safety and health procedures and rules.
  • Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received.
  • Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management's attention or correct those you can.
  • Have the ability to obtain a DOT card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
