Job Summary

American Iron & Metal is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Inspection and Repair: Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on heavy equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes, to identify mechanical issues and perform repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
  • Parts and Supplies Management: Maintain necessary parts, tools, and supplies to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance work, and parts used, completing service reports and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and protocols while working on equipment, following company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, operators, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues and support overall team objectives.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role, or completion of a Diesel Technician program or school.
  • Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, experience with various types of heavy equipment, and relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM-specific certifications).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.
