Position Overview: The Estates of Hidden Lake is seeking a dedicated individual to support the design, execution, and assessment of engaging recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual activities tailored to our residents' needs, as outlined in their care plans and under the guidance of supervisory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation, organization, and evaluation of activity programs and quality assurance initiatives within the Activities Department. Monitor resident participation, mood, behavior, and engagement levels to ensure effective evaluation of activities and resident progress, documenting observations accurately.
- Foster collaborative relationships with various departments to ensure seamless execution of daily activities. Promote a warm, inviting atmosphere that emphasizes personal interest and positivity while maintaining a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Prepare activity spaces for scheduled programs and communicate equipment and supply needs to your supervisor.
- Assist in the cleanup of activity areas post-events.
- Adhere to care plans to provide daily activities that cater to residents' needs.
- Manage the procurement of supplies, clothing, and personal items for residents.
- Uphold the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and comply with facility guidelines regarding reporting non-compliance, treating residents with dignity at all times.
- Supervise residents participating in scheduled activities to enhance their physical, social, and mental well-being, utilizing knowledge of their diagnoses and conditions.
- Engage with in-room residents through visits, letter writing, running errands, and assisting with crafts and projects as needed.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience in a Long-Term Care Activities Department.
- Possess patience, tact, a cheerful demeanor, and enthusiasm, with the ability to interact with residents at their respective maturity levels.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this role include:
- Ability to move throughout the workday.
- Capacity to manage the mental and emotional challenges associated with this position.
- Independence, flexibility, personal integrity, and effective collaboration with residents, staff, and support agencies.
- Ability to relate to and work with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, or occasionally hostile.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, or move a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least 5 feet and carry such weight over a distance of 50 feet.
- Potential involvement in assisting with resident evacuation during emergencies.
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
