Qualifications
- Completion of High School or equivalent
- Possession of a valid Driver's License and current Auto Insurance
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, including driving record, criminal history, and reviews for adult and child abuse
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in volunteer activities that are essential to the role and contribute to fulfilling the objectives of the position.
- Assist the care team in providing patient support as per the established care plan.
- Deliver necessary services to patients and families as outlined in the Hospice Volunteer Handbook, including companionship, shopping, and respite care.
- Commit to a time investment of 2-4 hours weekly, as per availability.
- Notify the team when a substitute is required.
- Utilize effective listening skills to offer emotional support to patients and their families.
- Document and report any changes in the patient's condition or surroundings to the Hospice Volunteer Services Coordinator or relevant team member.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of volunteer activities.
- Complete annual mandatory documentation to retain active volunteer status.
- Participate in scheduled rehearsals and community presentations as needed.
- Demonstrate competency in required skills and attend educational workshops as available.
- Integrate VNAHSR's HEALTH Matters values into all aspects of volunteer responsibilities.
