Position Overview

The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the seamless management of materials, ensuring that production lines are adequately supplied to achieve operational targets. This position requires close collaboration with various departments to maintain an uninterrupted flow of materials, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively transport materials within the facility utilizing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts.
  • Regularly monitor and maintain precise inventory levels through systematic counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, and appropriately store items in designated locations, ensuring proper organization for easy access.
  • Accurately fulfill production orders by selecting materials from inventory and delivering them to the respective production areas.
  • Conduct visual inspections of materials for any damage or defects, promptly reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain detailed records of material transactions, update inventory systems, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Ensure cleanliness and adhere to established safety protocols.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and work instructions, including the Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
  • Stay informed about individual contributions to quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies; report any quality concerns or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse and shipping operations is required.
  • Basic math skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capable of working in a team environment and engaging with a diverse workforce.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Experience operating equipment such as Forklifts and Combi-Lifts is required.
  • A valid Driver's License is necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Products, is required.
  • Familiarity with online real-time manufacturing control systems, such as MAPICS or other current in-house processes, is preferred.
  • Ability to utilize various tools and measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, dial indicators, and feeler gauges.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle machinery, equipment, or parts, and work near moving mechanical components.
