Position Summary:

The Residential Soft Surface Product Manager (SSPM) plays a crucial role in the introduction, promotion, and management of all offerings within the Residential Soft Surface category. This position demands an in-depth understanding of the product range and its competitors. Key responsibilities encompass overseeing product development from concept to market launch, evaluating performance across various retail platforms, and driving annual revenue growth in carpet sales. Exceptional communication skills, both internally and externally, are vital for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role is primarily remote but requires significant travel in the sales field (at least 50% travel with overnight stays) to collect insights and feedback related to product innovation, samples, merchandising, competitive landscape, and marketing strategies, while also fostering relationships with the sales team and retail partners.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Development, Marketing, and Category Managers to introduce new products, address product line gaps, and identify market opportunities. Partner with sales to establish pricing, margins, and forecasts. Continuously monitor product performance and manage SKU optimization.
  • Sample Management: Ensure timely market entry of new products and oversee sample inventory levels. Provide effective merchandising, packaging, and shipping solutions to support the sales force.
  • Promotional Planning & Forecasting: Align production capacity and service levels for promotional initiatives and accurately forecast new product launches.
  • Maintain regular communication with Sales, Sample Management, Customer Service, and Financial Services to effectively launch new products and manage ongoing promotions.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing department to fulfill merchandising requirements. Develop training materials and communication tools to motivate the sales team and maintain direct engagement with customers.
  • Present product and financial performance metrics to senior leadership and the sales team. Engage with buying groups, distributors, and international clientele.
  • Develop and submit an annual market strategy and quarterly updates. Manage budgets, sample loss, and promotional expenditures.
  • Collect product feedback and competitive insights from the sales field. Participate in regional sales meetings and events to educate and train the sales force.
  • Product Brands & Market Programs: Act as the primary point of contact for the residential product line. Ensure ongoing communication with the sales field and respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Internal & External Communication: Coordinate product launches and promotional strategies with various departments. Collaborate with Digital Marketing to enhance product visibility on digital platforms.
  • Pricing Strategy: Establish and maintain competitive pricing structures and communicate all pricing adjustments to ensure consistency across all channels.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in a sales-oriented role (e.g., Territory Manager, Regional Manager, Builder Specialist, Commercial Specialist, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Engineered Floors and competitor soft surface product lines.
  • Proficiency in Panagon Report Manager, DSS Web Reports, G-Link, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Must demonstrate high-level professional presentation skills for diverse audiences.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel overnight in the sales field and to the corporate office frequently (air, auto, and rail).
  • Must reside within a 30-mile radius of a major airport.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, standing, sitting at a workstation, and driving for extended periods.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
