Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Music Teacher to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing an instructional program in Vocal Music for students in grades 6 through 12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess student abilities and develop individualized educational plans to meet the needs of students within the City Schools curriculum framework.
  • Plan and implement engaging instructional strategies and activities to enhance student learning, utilizing a variety of materials and multimedia resources.
  • Develop and adapt educational materials, resources, and techniques to meet the needs of students, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Manage student behavior and establish effective discipline and management procedures to ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate instructional activities and maximize learning opportunities for students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and students to keep them informed of student progress and provide support as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field.
  • Valid standard professional teaching certificate in Music Education.
  • Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Vocal Music in a public school setting.
  • Proficiency in one or more musical instruments.
  • Excellent hearing skills and ability to distinguish pitch and tonal qualities.
