Overview

Our client, a premier Mechanical & Plumbing Commercial and Industrial Contractor, is seeking a dedicated Project Manager. With a reputation for exceptional customer service and innovative solutions, this organization is experiencing significant growth, creating exciting opportunities for its team members.

The Project Manager will oversee the overall management of a project or multiple projects, ensuring all aspects are executed efficiently. Responsibilities include acquiring necessary equipment and subcontractors, monitoring job costs, maintaining billing and schedules, and providing essential technical support and leadership to the field team. This role also involves collaborating closely with the project’s Superintendent to manage daily operations and fostering long-term relationships with clients to enhance communication and future project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall management of projects, including:
    • Securing equipment and subcontractor agreements.
    • Tracking and accurately forecasting job costs.
    • Managing billing processes and project timelines.
    • Offering technical guidance and leadership to field personnel.
    • Collaborating with the project Superintendent on daily project activities.
    • Building and maintaining long-term client relationships to improve communication and future collaboration.
    • Ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
    • Reviewing project estimates for accuracy and compliance with job cost systems.
    • Conducting pre-job and ongoing planning meetings to clarify contract terms and project requirements.
    • Documenting meeting outcomes and ensuring all action items are addressed.
    • Developing and updating project schedules regularly.
    • Monitoring staffing schedules to align with project timelines.
    • Executing subcontract and equipment procurement to support project schedules and financial plans.
    • Conducting daily site visits to monitor progress and address issues.
    • Performing inspections, assessing job progress, and resolving contractual challenges.
    • Identifying potential project issues and implementing corrective actions.
    • Managing scope changes to ensure timely processing and integration into the project.
    • Providing material takeoffs, estimates, and pricing for scope adjustments.
    • Participating in job meetings in accordance with client and company protocols.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in managing mechanical construction projects is essential. Experience in renovation projects is advantageous.
  • Proven negotiation skills in construction change orders and project presentations are required.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex, multifaceted challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with polished presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret contractual documents, plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in technical and business correspondence.
  • Experience with computerized job cost accounting systems is necessary.
  • Competence in using the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Understanding of financial models applicable to fixed price, cost-plus, and unit rate contracting.
  • Willingness to work from a job trailer or onsite office, with regular site visits, necessitating the ability to navigate various project site hazards.
  • Availability to be on-call as needed to support ongoing operations, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Capability to visit job sites daily for progress checks, inspections, and meetings to resolve issues.
