Position Overview: The Certified Surgical Technician is an integral part of the surgical team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other surgical staff to provide exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver basic patient care while considering the patient's age and developmental stage.
  2. Assist in patient care practices that minimize infection risks and ensure patient safety.
  3. Support surgeons, residents, medical students, nursing students, and surgical technology students during surgical procedures, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a sterile environment.
  4. Ensure the availability and proper stocking of surgical supplies and equipment according to established standards.
  5. Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
  6. Manage instruments, supplies, and equipment throughout surgical procedures.
  7. Uphold all AORN and JCAHO standards consistently.
  8. Prepare and assemble all necessary cases for same-day and next-day surgeries, ensuring all required equipment and implants are ready.
  9. Communicate effectively with the Team Leader regarding any delays or additional cases.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery Certified (TS-C), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with specialized training.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Current CPR certification recognized by JPS, which must be maintained throughout employment.
