Penn Medicine is seeking a full-time Ambulatory Nurse II

Department:
Medicine


Location: 3400 Civic Center Blvd.

Schedule:
M-F Day


The Ambulatory Nurse II will be integral to the Pulmonary Hypertension PE/CTEPH Program within the Department of Medicine. This role will be hybrid, adapting to the operational needs of the program and practice. The ANII will serve across our University City and Perelman Center campuses.

As the program evolves, task prioritization may vary and will be determined by programmatic requirements.



Overview:


The Ambulatory Nurse II is a registered nurse who collaborates as a full partner within the healthcare team and consistently exemplifies safe practice within the organizational professional practice framework.

The Ambulatory Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to meet the standards for competent professional nursing practice as outlined in the Ambulatory Nurse II position description addendum.

This role embodies UPHS organizational behavioral competencies that reflect its mission and are integrated into the professional practice competency domains.

The Ambulatory Nurse II independently delivers patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients.

Assigned patients may range from infancy to the elderly.

The Ambulatory Nurse II demonstrates proficiency within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.

The Ambulatory Nurse II collaborates closely with the interprofessional healthcare team to facilitate coordinated care across the continuum.

The nurse focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The nurse evaluates and integrates the best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient and family preferences and values for optimal healthcare delivery and system effectiveness.

Safety:
The nurse minimizes risks to patients, families, providers, and self through effective systems and individual performance.

Professionalism:
The nurse shows commitment to the nursing profession through ongoing education, adherence to ANA's Code of Ethics for Nurses, involvement in professional organizations, and advancing community outreach initiatives.

  • Person and Family Centered Care: The nurse acknowledges the patient (or the patient's designee) as the primary source of control and a full partner in delivering compassionate and coordinated care, respecting the patient's preferences, values, and needs.

Leadership:

The nurse effectively collaborates and applies innovative, systems thinking to engage in systematic, evidence-based problem-solving and decision-making to promote effective changes within a complex care delivery system supporting the vision of Penn Medicine.


Informatics/Technology:

The nurse utilizes appropriate information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support decision-making across the continuum.


Teamwork:

The nurse actively participates in cooperation, coordination, and collaboration to ensure safe, quality outcomes for patients within inter and intra-professional teams, including virtual teams.


  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): The nurse employs data and QI methods to identify potential and actual problems and opportunities to provide care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.

Qualifications:

  • RN Required with state licensure. (Required)
  • ACLS or BCLS or PALS (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Diploma or ASN from an accredited nursing school and more than 15 months of relevant professional nursing experience. (Required)
  • BSN from an accredited nursing school and more than 15 months of relevant professional nursing experience. (Preferred)
