Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions to patients by assessing their functional capabilities and implementing suitable treatment plans aimed at enhancing or restoring their physical abilities. This role involves collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to provide education to the community and facilitate the clinical training of students. There may be a requirement for coverage across multiple locations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a Bachelor’s degree.
- A valid license in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from the relevant state is mandatory.
- Certification as a Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
- Proficiency in personal computer applications and familiarity with Windows-based software is necessary for departmental tasks.
- Basic skills in keyboarding and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet search functions are preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required for travel between various work sites to fulfill essential job functions.

1. Conducts patient evaluations in accordance with departmental standards.
2. Adjusts evaluations based on patient symptoms, activity levels, and medical history, establishing tailored, measurable goals for each individual.
3. Implements appropriate therapeutic exercises to enhance strength, endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
4. Applies physical modalities and manual therapy techniques to alleviate pain and achieve established treatment objectives.
5. Employs effective strategies to normalize motor function and facilitate learning.
6. Instructs patients and their families on home exercise regimens and functional activities to promote independence.
7. Assesses when a patient has reached optimal recovery and recommends discharge when suitable.
8. Maintains documentation in compliance with insurance requirements and adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
9. Encourages interdepartmental communication and liaises with referring physicians regarding patient care as evidenced by documentation and observation.
10. Diligently completes and submits daily charge documentation.
11. Upholds the professional ethical standards set forth by the APTA and the facility at all times, as demonstrated through professional conduct.
12. Executes all duties with proper body mechanics and safety protocols to prevent injuries.
13. Supervises at least one student from an affiliated program annually.
14. Participates in continuing education opportunities to enhance treatment methodologies.
15. Engages in at least one departmental or community educational initiative, as documented in professional records.
