Position Summary:
The Employment Specialist is responsible for delivering direct vocational evaluations, job creation, and coaching services to participants. This role involves identifying necessary support to help individuals overcome employment obstacles. The core focus of all activities is to promote individual recovery through active community engagement, contribution, and belonging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer job assistance to program participants actively engaged in the workforce.
- Assess and address the needs of consumers to ensure effective responses to inquiries and to mitigate barriers affecting daily productivity.
- Build trusting and supportive relationships with individuals, providing emotional guidance while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Collaborate with individuals to establish Supported Employment objectives and update Individual Support Plans (ISP) based on their specific requirements, aiming to enhance physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
- Guide individuals in achieving the goals outlined in their ISP.
- Provide emergency on-call support in collaboration with other team members as necessary.
- Facilitate all forms of job search and support for individuals pursuing self-employment and traditional employment opportunities.
- Ensure timely completion of all required documentation.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health, or a Vocational/Rehabilitation field is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in vocational employment services for behavioral health or IDD populations is necessary.
- Familiarity with community resources, experience in consumer advocacy, and the ability to work effectively in a team setting are essential.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Working Conditions:
This role involves both office-based tasks and community engagement while supporting program participants. Employees may frequently need to stand, walk, lift, and reach as part of their duties. Travel throughout the community is a requirement of this position.
Hazard and Atmospheric Conditions:
- Exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, and loud noises.
- Potential exposure to confined spaces, mists, gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and burn risks.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting Requirements: Heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Physical Abilities: Ability to stand or sit, walk, use hands or fingers for various tasks, climb, communicate effectively, and see for detection and recognition.
