Are you a passionate Nurse with a knack for education? Good Shepherd Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated Nursing Education Specialist.

Position Overview:

This full-time role focuses on ensuring that our clinical staff possesses the essential knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional, safe, and competent care to our residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

IDENTIFYING AND ADDRESSING EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

  • Design and implement in-service training programs tailored to clinical requirements, adhering to current standards of care and organizational policies.
  • Assess and evaluate educational initiatives based on content, delivery methods, and instructional materials.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive orientation plans for new hires, providing both on-the-job training and classroom instruction aligned with competency assessments.
  • Coordinate mandatory in-service education in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Plan and facilitate orientation, mentorship, and preceptor programs for staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance of educational records and documentation.
  • Establish a monitoring system to track attendance and competency achievements, providing feedback to staff and management.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to identify specific educational needs within the organization.
  • Engage in the development of Best Practice Standards to enhance patient safety and care quality.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Assist in the formulation and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Manage educational programs and documentation software.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments to prioritize educational offerings.

ACTING AS A ROLE MODEL IN ADVANCED NURSING PRACTICE

  • Serve as an active member of the Nursing Management Team.
  • Conduct rounds on nursing units to evaluate clinical skills and care delivery.
  • Participate in establishing Best Practice standards to ensure quality care.
  • Maintain compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Act as a mentor and preceptor for new and existing staff and students.

STAYING CURRENT WITH PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Review and assess new educational and documentation tools.
  • Create and develop specialized training programs tailored to the unique needs of our patient population.
  • Share expertise and best practices with staff.
  • Engage in professional development through workshops, publications, networking, and participation in professional organizations.

ADHERING TO REGULATORY AND ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS

  • Support clinical practices that align with the organization's mission, goals, and standards of care.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of policies that support evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance.

FOSTERING A COLLABORATIVE TEAM ENVIRONMENT

  • Promote the positive reputation of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation.
  • Respond to changes in a constructive and positive manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of relevant clinical and educational experience is preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced nursing certification or completion within two years is required.
  • CPR Trainer certification is required.
