About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Materials Scientist to join our Advanced Materials team at Raytheon Careers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new coatings technologies that meet and exceed program needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of CRADs, IRADs, projects, and program support
  • Perform individual contributor workload in the leader's subject matter discipline
  • Team with the Section Leader in the execution of Materials and Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Discipline, and Raytheon Engineering goals
  • Provide oversight to ensure the accuracy of technical output of each assignment based on data and analyses
  • Interface with other organizations across the Raytheon Enterprise
Requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Ceramics, Chemistry, or Physics and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in depositing thin films by various physical vapor technologies such as DC and RF magnetron sputtering
  • Experience in the characterization of thin films by optical, mechanical, and/or electrical methods
  • Experience in materials characterization, or production engineering, and/or competency with the use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
  • Experience in military applications and/or environments
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to efficiently use MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Broad knowledge of materials science with ability to collaborate with SMEs
  • Experience with proposal capture process (development of compliant basis of estimates (BOEs) and white-sheet development
  • Expertise in vacuum technology
  • Experience with Failure Review Boards and/or failure analysis
  • Familiarity with the Estimate at Complete (EAC) Process
