Position Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and review of financial reports and activities in accordance with established accounting principles. This role also assists with capital requests, budget management, closing processes, conducts internal audits, and ensures proper documentation for tracking accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the compilation and analysis of accounting activities to maintain accurate records of account entries.
  • Prepares and maintains financial statements and documentation related to the division's financial standing, ensuring readiness for audits and reporting.
  • Reviews financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Processes payroll change requests to reflect staffing adjustments within the division.
  • Contributes to the formulation and evaluation of annual budgets and performance forecasts to promote company growth.
  • Monitors and suggests enhancements to policies and procedures within the assigned market area to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Region Controller, Regional Vice President, and Operations Management to effectively execute financial projects.
  • Engages in training and development opportunities to broaden knowledge of the company, its products, and services, while fulfilling other duties aligned with the company’s vision and core values.

Career Path Levels

Level 1: Exhibits a foundational understanding of operational and financial functions. Capable of participating in month-end closing activities, preparing balance reconciliations, and handling revenue entries. Familiar with software such as NetSuite, ADP, and Trux/SoftPak.

Level 2: Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing purchase orders in NetSuite and master spreadsheets in Longview for Excel. Understands the components of net revenue for hauling operations and SOX controls related to these operations.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree, a minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience, and must be legally authorized to work in the United States. A proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment is essential.

Exceptional relationship management skills, along with strong listening, communication, and problem-solving abilities, are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel, is mandatory.
