Position Summary

As an Automotive Sales Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the sale of both new and used vehicles while adhering to dealership standards for profitability, volume, and customer satisfaction. You will serve as a key representative of Knudtsen in the marketplace, playing an essential role in fostering and maintaining long-term customer relationships. Upholding high ethical standards is crucial in this position. Ongoing training related to products, processes, and services will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist all customers with their inquiries.
  • Identify customer needs, conduct vehicle demonstrations, and guide customers on test drives to enhance the sales experience.
  • Thoroughly explain product features, applications, and advantages to customers, including optional equipment available for purchase.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in line with dealership protocols, collaborating with the sales manager to finalize deals and submit documentation to the finance department.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they are well-informed about the vehicle's features, warranty, and necessary paperwork.
  • Introduce customers to service department staff to highlight the quality and efficiency of available service and maintenance options.
  • Maintain a system for prospect development and follow-up with existing customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Engage in required training and stay updated on new products, features, and consumer benefits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A collaborative team player committed to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Self-driven with the capability to set and achieve specific goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in automotive sales is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer usage, basic software applications, and the ability to learn customer relationship management software.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing retail automobile sales, as well as an understanding of equity, values, and depreciation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle report and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening, with random testing as required by the company.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. The physical requirements for the Sales Consultant position include:

  • Engaging in standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.

Team members typically work 40 hours per week. While performing job duties, employees will often be outside on the sales lot. Exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels may occur, particularly in service areas.
